This study aims to explore the existence of students, especially related to the meaning and responsibility of students in determining the direction of self-development, as well as analyzing the application of multiple intelligences approach as a learning process in boarding schools. The scope of the study includes nine types of intelligence according to Howard Gardner, namely linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, musical, kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, and existential intelligence, which are observed in the context of daily leisure activities. This study uses qualitative methods with a Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach,, conducted at Pondok Pesantren Sabilurrosyad Malang through observation for one week and in-depth interviews with administrators and students, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that 1) the nine types of intelligence arise naturally and are integrated in the activities of kepesantrenan, such as learning the Yellow Book, calculation of jurisprudence, Arts Kompangan, sports, charity work, and takdzim attitude to kiai, although its application has not been designed systematically, 2) The benefits of this learning model for Student (Islamic boarding school students) include fair and inclusive learning, as well as the fostering of a willingness to develop their inner potential, thereby boosting self-confidence. The benefits of this study are theoretically that multiple intelligences contribute to growing the potential of students and offer a new framework for pesantren managers to design learning that is more structured and oriented to the diversity of potential students.
Mas Rukhin Lubabul HudaHamka Al Hakim

This case study describes the implementation of a systematic desensitization technique for a female student (IN) at Pondok Pesantren NJ who experienced a specific food aversion to white rice. Initial assessment indicated that the aversion was stimulus-specific rather than generalized, as IN accepted other food textures (e.g., glutinous rice) without a significant aversive response. A descriptive single-case study design was used, combining a retrospective baseline drawn from initial counseling interviews characterized by consistent avoidance of cold rice and limited acceptance of warm rice with an eight-day, twice-daily prospective intervention monitoring phase. The intervention combined a hierarchical graduated exposure sequence (visual exposure, physical contact, and consumption) with an emotion-regulation and cognitive-reframing component functioning as a relaxation and counterconditioning technique, consistent with the principle of reciprocal inhibition underlying systematic desensitization. Across the eight-day monitoring period, IN showed a fluctuating but generally improving pattern of rice consumption, with portions still small and inconsistent and the disgust response not fully resolved. These findings suggest that success in specific food aversion cases is better indicated by increased tolerance and consistent eating behavior than by complete elimination of the affective disgust response.

Atiqotur RizqiyahMIftahul RohmahNanda Mariyatul QibtiyahWidad RamadhaniMoh.
